Casheena Love says her son Breon was a superstar athlete who was loved by everyone. She’s trying to figure out how her son’s young life could be so tragically taken.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The mother of a 7-year-old boy shot and killed on the Westside Friday told First Coast News she wouldn’t wish this grief on her worst enemy.
Casheena Love’s son, Breon Allen, was a superstar athlete who was loved by everyone he met. So, she’s trying to figure out how her son’s young life could be so tragically taken.
“Today has been a nightmare,” Love said. “I have never experienced nothing like this in my life and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”
With tears falling down her face, Love was consoled by family and friends outside of UF Health hospital, where she had been waiting for hours to see her child.
“I was about five minutes away from him when I got a call from a family member screaming that my baby had been shot and she thought he may have been dead,” love said. “The only thing they told me is that my baby didn’t make it. He fought, he fought that’s all I know, and we have not been able to go back in the hospital since.”
Love told First Coast News, “Today’s just been the worst day of my life.”
Breon was a football star, Love said, who was loved by everyone. He had just started basketball practice Thursday.
“I never, never thought I’d be burying one of my babies,” she said. “If anybody seen anything, heard anything, know anything please, please, please, please, call it in. Call me, call family members, stop by the house i don’t care. Please let us know what happened to our baby. He was 7 years old he did not deserve this.”
