Mayhem broke out in Philadelphia on Sunday night as Eagles fans celebrating their NFC Championship win clashed with riot police after a car ploughed into a large group of people – while one supporter was stabbed outside the team’s stadium.

Hours after the Eagles’ 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders, which sealed their place in next month’s Super Bowl, celebrations on the streets of Philly quickly turned sour.

Footage emerged on social media of police pushing back against a large crowd of buoyant Eagles fans, a number of whom could be seen protesting angrily to cops before either being pushed away or arrested.

One stunned supporter was heard shouting amid the madness: ‘We’re just celebrating a f***ing win!’

Prior to those chaotic scenes, several people were also left injured after a car drove into a large crowd in North Philadelphia, police confirmed.

According to NBC 10 Philadelphia, the driver struck a group of pedestrians on North Broad and Spring Garden streets at around 9:30pm, with multiple people taken to the hospital.

Police are yet to reveal the number of people injured or their conditions, but they are treating the accident as non-intentional despite a suspect being taken into custody.

A man is also recovering in hospital after being stabbed in a parking lot outside Lincoln Financial Field following Sunday’s game.

A 25-year-old man and a 34-year-old man were seen arguing along 3600 South 11 Street at around 8pm, before the younger man was stabbed in the right leg, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital and placed in stable condition, while an arrest has also been made. The suspect and the victim’s identities have not been revealed by police.

According to an eye witness, the driver who ploughed into multiple people in North Philadelphia was seen arguing with pedestrians before the incident occurred.

‘It was a car. She was on the sidewalk. And she was arguing with some people,’ the witness told NBC Philadelphia. ‘Drove straight down into the crowd and hit probably at least 30 people.’

Fans lined the streets of Philly in their thousands after the victory, with 76ers basketball star Paul George even getting stuck in traffic following the city’s NFL triumph.

Two overjoyed supporters were seen hanging from street poles as they toasted the team’s return to the Super Bowl after a year absence.

At one stage, one of them even appeared to fall from the pole and back into a crowd of their fellow Philly fans.

Earlier in the evening, an ecstatic Eagles fan twerked and thrusted her hips on a car bonnet in wild scenes after their NFC Championship win.

A video which went viral online first showed the woman thrusting on the bonnet in a sexual manner, before she got up and began to twerk while other stunned fans watched on nearby.

Several users were not impressed by her antics on X, with one commenting: ‘Yeah we don’t need all that’.

‘Philly fans are the worst,’ said another.

A third sarcastically wrote: ‘Stay classy’.

‘Worst fanbase in sports,’ concluded a fourth.

While one simply put: ‘Eww’.

On the field, it proved a night to savor for everyone associated with the Eagles after they cruised past the Commanders in dominant fashion.

Running-back sensation Saquon Barkley stole the show after powering through for another 60-yard touchdown run plus two other rushing scores.

Jalen Hurts also rushed for three touchdowns as the Eagles set up a mouthwatering showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.
