According to police sources, three individuals wearing masks entered an empty subway train in New York City and decided to take it for a joyride. They even filmed part of their adventure and shared it on Instagram over the weekend.

The suspects stole the R train from a storage yard while it wasn’t in use, getting inside the car with transit keys sometime Saturday or Sunday, sources told The Post.

Once inside, the three perps covered the lens to security cameras with black marker, but still videotaped their reckless ride for social media clout as they took the train for a spin.

The train car was used for an unknown amount of time, sources said.

It’s unclear how long their joyride lasted or how far they took it, but at least part of their travels were on active train lines, sources said.

The adrenaline junkies were seen on video traveling around 30 mph as they warned each other to keep their identities concealed, according to social media footage obtained by the Daily News.

“Cover your faces,” one of the offenders reportedly warned. “Cover your faces.”

The video also shows them going through at least one local station on the express tracks and passing by at least one signal, the Daily News reported.

The stolen train might have crossed paths with another in-service train with one thief reportedly shouting “train,” and then telling a companion to check the radio to apparently see if they were spotted.

The train was eventually returned to the layup track at a Brooklyn station where it’s believed it was first swiped, the newspaper reported, citing sources.

MTA workers noticed the train was in a different spot from where they left it earlier and called police around 10:20 p.m. Sunday, sources told The Post. Cops met MTA officials at a trainyard in Queens.

The NYPD are still hunting for three suspects that were wearing all black and had masks on.
