SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) — Officials at Willard Airport said they have a new project to focus on.

Right now, they’re focusing on remodeling the car rental department. Tim Bannon, executive director, said they started working on it last year.

The space will have new lighting, new counters that are more secure to keep employees safe, and improvements for people with disabilities.

“We have a lot of rental cars in any given time, 140 to 150 cars a day are out on the road that originated here from Willard Airport. So, we have a lot of rental car business associated not only with our airlines, but also with people just coming to the airport from town to rent cars,” Bannon said.

He said the project should be done by the middle of next month. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $200,000 and, customer facility charges are covering the entire thing.
