Roosevelt Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan and teacher Karly Anderson were both charged with child neglect.

COCOA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida elementary school principal and teacher are behind bars after police said the former hosted an “Open House Party” involving more than 100 minors with many seen drinking alcohol.

Roosevelt Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan and teacher Karly Anderson were both charged with child neglect, according to a news release from the Cocoa Beach Police Department.

Officers responded to calls about the house party on Sunday, Jan. 19, and reportedly observed “over 100 juveniles in matching t-shirts,” many of whom were drinking alcohol from coolers at the home.

While officers investigated the party, one minor was found on the front lawn “experiencing an alcohol-related medical event,” the department said in the release.

“The juvenile was so heavily intoxicated that Brevard County Fire Rescue had to respond to treat them,” officers said.

During that time, police noticed Hill-Brodigan in the driveway of her home before turning off her outside lights and going back inside. This reportedly prompted BCFR to have to use auxiliary lighting to treat the heavily intoxicated minor.

Another teen was arrested near the principal’s home for DUI, police said. Soon after, Karly Anderson, also drunk, reportedly approached officers and identified herself as a teacher at the school.

In the days after the party, officers interviewed parents and minors regarding the house party, which led them to obtain an arrest warrant for Hill-Brodigan. She was booked into the Brevard County Jail on Jan. 24 and has been charged with child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and holding an “Open House Party,” officers said.

Anderson is facing similar charges, according to the release.
