A 53-year-old man has been charged with murder after another man died following a stabbing in Craigieburn in Melbourne’s north.

Police said they were called to a disturbance at a home on Thoresby Circuit about 6.45pm on Saturday night. 

At the home, a 33-year-old Craigieburn man was found with a stab wound and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 53-year-old was arrested at the home on the night of the attack and taken to hospital as well.

He was treated for minor injuries under police guard and was released from hospital last night.

This morning he was interviewed by detectives and charged with one count of murder.

Police believe the two men were known to each other.

He was expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this afternoon.
