Roland Ball, 25, was found guilty of shooting and killing 17-year-old Inandi Wyche in March 2020 on Monday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was found guilty of murdering a Ribault High School cheerleader, who was also the girlfriend of a Jacksonville rapper, on Monday.

Roland Ball, 25, was found guilty of shooting and killing 17-year-old Inandi Wyche in March 2020 while she was with her boyfriend, Jacksonville rapper Kshordy, whose real name is Terise Powe.

Xavion Porter was also arrested in connection to the deadly shooting. He is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and turned himself in on a warrant out for his arrest, according to his arrest report. He was 16 at the time.

On Monday, it took a jury an hour and six minutes to reach a verdict for Ball, as he was found guilty on nine charges:

  • First-degree murder
  • Attempted first-degree murder (five counts)
  • Shooting or throwing deadly missiles (two counts)
  • Tampering with or harassing a witness, victim or informant

What happened?

On March 19, 2020, a couple of weeks after he turned 19, Powe was on a date with Inandi. She was driving him home when a gray vehicle pulled up in front of Inandi’s car in the 4700 block of Portsmouth Avenue in Jacksonville around 7 p.m.

Two males, including Ball, opened fire on the car, according to police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office then were called out to the scene for a report of gunfire. When they arrived, Wyche was pronounced dead at the scene, while Powe was found injured inside of the vehicle. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Police said the shooting was gang-related and was in retaliation for another deadly shooting that occurred about a half-mile away, two days before Wyche was shot and killed.

According to reports, Ball and Porter believed Powe was responsible and sought revenge.

As for Porter, now 20, court records show he has pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy to commit murder charge and that he will have his next pre-trial hearing on Feb. 26 at 9 a.m.
