SAVANNAH, Ga. () — With colder weather on the way, you might be thinking about a winter getaway.

Here are some Georgia State Parks that have lodges that you can check out before your next trip!

Unicoi State Park and Lodge

Set right outside Alpine Helen, a Bavarian-themed town, there is plenty to do when staying at the Unicoi State Park and Lodge. Hiking trails, paddleboarding, fly fishing and biking are just a few ways to enjoy the great outdoors at Unicoi.

The Unicoi Lodge has 96 hotel-style rooms and 29 cabins in the park. The park itself is dog-friendly, but the Lodge is not designated pet-friendly, according to their website.

Pets can stay overnight at designated cabins or any campsites, but there is a $50 fee per pet, with a max of 2 pets.

They also have 6 “glamping” sites equipped with luxury, furnished tents.

Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge

Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge in Dawsonville is home to the tallest waterfall in Georgia. The park offers activities such as hatchet throwing, hikes and trout fishing, their website said.

Amicalola Falls has a variety of places to stay, with 57 rooms in the Lodge, 14 cabins and 4 glamping sites. They have two pet-friendly cabins.

Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge

Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge, two miles north of McRae-Helena on the Little Ocmulgee River, is a great stop for work trips or golfers. With a golf course nested in the park, they advertise a peaceful, but challenging golfing experience.

Along with golf, the park also offers nature trails, fishing and boating on Lake Blackshear.

The park has 60 rooms in its lodge and 10 cabins.

The park originates back to the 1930s, when it was constructed by Civilian Conservation Corps.

Georgia Veterans State Park and Resort

Georgia Veterans State Park and Resort is located in Cordele on Lake Blackshear. They offer fishing, kayaking, golf, hiking and biking.

They are recognized as one of middle and south Georgia’s best golf courses. On par with the name, the park is also home to an indoor and outdoor military museum, which pays tribute to the veterans from the Revolutionary War to the present day, their website said.

This park has 10 cabins in their resort and plenty of RV and tent sites. They also have glamping sites with Safari tents.
