CHURCH HILL, Tenn. (WJHL) — Two students at Volunteer High School (VHS) were charged after a non-operational and non-explosive device was found on the school’s campus.
School resource officers at VHS were notified on Wednesday of a rumor of a possible explosive device on campus, a news release from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) states. The campus was placed under a green lockdown as a precaution.
The HCSO reports law enforcement investigated and interviewed students before finding “an article resembling an explosive device.” The device was determined to be non-operational and non-explosive.
According to the, HCSO two students were charged in connection to Wednesday’s incident.
The lockdown was lifted, and no injuries were reported. No student or staff member was in danger during the event, the HCSO said.
