A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida said a federal warrant was executed on Wednesday morning.

TAMPA, Fla. — Neighbors in Tampa’s Old Seminole Heights neighborhood said Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials raided a home and arrested a man Wednesday morning.

The commotion happened just after 10 a.m. on E. Henry Avenue.

Officials on the scene said the arrest was led by the Drug Enforcement Agency, but a DEA spokesperson deferred us to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida when we asked for information about the case.

Wednesday evening, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida said, “A federal warrant was executed at that location. No further information is available at this time.”

It’s still unclear who was arrested at the home and why.

Neighbors said roughly 18 cars swarmed the area just after 10 a.m. When 10 Tampa Bay arrived at the scene, we observed units that belonged to ICE, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office, and the DEA. A front window of the home was shattered and the door was busted in.

Bob Strzelecki, who lives across the street, said a young Hispanic couple has lived in the home for roughly the last ten years, and they have two young children. He told us they were good neighbors and he was shocked to see this unfold.

“They never bothered anybody, pretty quiet. They didn’t have much in the way of company or anything. I was surprised. They’re so nice. I couldn’t believe it,” Strzelecki added.

Isela Romero, who lives a few doors down, said even after seeing other ICE raids across the country this week, this came as a shock.

“It was really scary. It was like something you never thought you’d see happen, just something you’d see online or on the news. And for it to happen down the road is really scary. And to leave the windows smashed and the doors indented is kind of crazy,” Romero said.

Romero spoke with the woman who lives at that home. She confirmed her husband was arrested but said she didn’t know why, adding that she was shaken up by the entire situation.

10 Tampa Bay is working to get more details about why this arrest took place and will update you as we learn more.
