No plans this Valentine’s Day? Look no further, because Netflix has a solution for that.
For those looking to stay home on the day, the streamer announced that it has a new season of a beloved reality TV show dropping. That’s right, Season 8 of Love Is Blind will be headed to your screen on February 14th.
Netflix Teased The Latest Season
This season of Love Is Blind isn’t just any regular season — Netflix has been proudly promoting it as the “five year anniversary” of the dating experiment, as its first season originally aired back in early 2020. Since then, the franchise has exploded in popularity, making its way across borders into different countries. This time around, however, the pods are opening in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota.
The trailer for the latest season was just released this week, with the caption noting that “when it comes to this hit reality series, there’s always more to reveal.”
Sure enough, it seems like the drama is already being teed up. In the very first moments of the trailer, we hear a woman’s voiceover, possibly alluding to the fact that her pod match might be someone she knows in real life:
When the doors opened and I saw him, I thought, ‘He’s so familiar to me.’ I believe he knew exactly what I looked like the entire time we were talking through the wall.
It also seems like competition and love triangles will be coming into play. “Hunger games, baby!” another woman proclaims in the living quarters.
Fans Are Wary Of Another Season
Despite the fact that the Netflix show continues to be renewed, viewers seemed to be conflicted about another season coming out so soon. In the comments section of the trailer, fans pointed out that they were skeptical about the quality of the upcoming season.
“Nothing will be as real and authentic as the first season,” said one person, getting several hundred likes on the comment. “Season 1 was EVERYTHING! I still go back and watch parts of it every once in a while,” agreed another. The general consensus seemed to be that, as additional seasons continue to be churned out, the connections feel less genuine, perhaps more about producing drama than about producing actual couples.
That said, there were some fans who remained enthusiastic about the eighth season — if only because it was guaranteed to be dramatic and chaotic as always. One commenter made it seem like they were going to tune in no matter what happened in the pods:
Here we go again, the mess is starting and I will watch lol!!
Sure enough, as the trailer ends, even more drama is hinted at, including the fact that at least one of the cast members had a partner going into the experiment (which wouldn’t be a first for Love Is Blind, either). “She had a boyfriend going into this,” a mystery male voice says. “He’s a huge liar!” proclaims another voice.
In the meantime, fans who are eager to know more about the season can check out the cast photos, which have since been posted to the show’s Instagram account. In addition, the account also posted short clips of some of the hopeful singles answering questions like what gives them the “ick” or how their closest friends and family would describe them.
In the comments section, other Love Is Blind alums offered their support for the incoming cast members. “SADDLE UP AND BUCKLE DOWN S8 it’s about to be a rollercoaster 🤠,” wrote Taylor Krause from Season 7. “Awwwww! You guys!!! Welcome to the squad! 🫶🏼,” wrote Bliss Poureetezadi Goytowski, who recently welcomed a baby girl with her husband from the show.
