A series of striking photographs capture a distressed individual lying on the subway tracks in Queens in the early hours of Saturday, just moments before an oncoming train was due to arrive at the station.

Concerned straphangers gathered on the platform above the man, who appeared disheveled and incoherent, at the Forest Hills–71st Avenue station.

Alert Good Samaritans managed to attract the attention of a train conductor in a passing train, prompting the incoming F train to be redirected to a different track in a tense situation witnessed by reporters from The Post who were underground at the time.

One of the women who signaled for help initially mistook the figure on the tracks for a discarded bag of trash before realizing it was actually a person. The individual was huddled on the tracks, dressed in oversized clothing and clutching what appeared to be a blanket.

The E and F trains were rerouted to the R track while the MTA waited for assistance from the NYPD, the agency announced on X.

In the meantime, an MTA employee tried to rouse the man by hitting him with a broom he was using to sweep the station.

The MTA did not immediately respond to an inquiry from The Post and police did not have any information on the incident.
