HINESVILLE, Ga () — Steven A. Cohen Military Family clinic at Centerstone, in Hinesville, is offering mental health care to address the need within the military community.

“We are located in areas where there is dense military population, where we’ve identified that there’s a need for our services, and we focus on filling in gaps that are needed for the community,” Julie Adams, clinic director said.

Suicides in the U.S military continue to increase, with over 500 reported in 2023. Liberty County is home to more than 15,000 active-duty service members and 22,000 active-duty families and the clinic is planning to provide support.

“We offer treatment for anxiety. We offer treatment for depression, post-traumatic stress,” Adams explained. “We also provide care for couples that are working on their relationship needs. We treat the entire military family as well as children and adolescent.”

Adams told News 3 services will be available for active-duty service members, national guard and reservists, veterans and military family members. She said one of their top priorities include providing help that is effective and urgent.

“We would like to provide care as quickly as possible for when someone recognizes that they’re having symptoms or stressors in their life,” said Adams. “It’s important to get into care quickly so it doesn’t develop into further concerns.”

To ensure that the clinic’s efforts have a long-term impact on liberty county and rural Georgia, Adams told News 3 are working closely with the local community.

“We are working very hard to build relationship ups throughout Hinesville and the surrounding communities,” she said. “We have a strong interest in partnering with other veterans serving organizations and of course, leadership on Fort Stewart and also hospitals and school systems,  a variety of agencies and organizations and professionals that are working to meet the needs of the military family.”

The clinic is currently open for telehealth services and will be open for in-person on site care in March.
