COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Last week, the Coles County Animal Shelter announced that they wouldn’t be taking in any more animals, at least temporarily.

It’s because the shelter will undergo renovations and needs half of their kennel space completely empty.

Only a few days after posting to Facebook that they needed help finding homes for some of their dogs because of the renovations, the shelter was able to let the community know that they found a place for all of the animals that needed it.

They said the animals will be in a heated area with everything they need. And, they don’t need any more fosters at this time.

The shelter is redoing the floors in one half of their kennel space. This area has chips and the floor beneath is exposed, which means it absorbs urine and other spills. Once the project is done, the shelter will be accepting animals once again.

The Coles County Animal Shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Saturday’s they’re open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, you can reach them at 217-345-4112.
