Chilling photos captured the interior of a medical jet before it crashed in Philadelphia Friday night, killing seven people and injuring 22 others – as authorities hope the plane’s black box could provide answers.

Jet Rescue Air, the company that operated the Learjet 55, released the photos from its interior, showing a stretcher covered with a white sheet and surrounded by various pieces of medical equipment used to track vitals and care for a patient.

Two seats could be seen positioned next to the stretcher, with two others near the foot of the bed.

A spokesperson for the company called the medevac helicopter – which was transporting 11-year-old Valentina Guzman Murillo and her mother Lizeth Murillo Ozuna, 31, at the time of the crash – a ‘flying ICU setting’ in comments to Fox News.

The small plane crashed at around 6.30pm, shortly after it departed Northeast Philadelphia Airport on its way to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri.

It was then to continue on to Tijuana, Mexico, where Murillo, Ozuna and all the crew members were from.

Circumstances surrounding the fiery crash remain unclear, but officials hoped that the cockpit voice recorder – commonly referred to as a plane’s ‘black box’ – may provide more answers.

It was found eight feet underground at the site of impact, which left a crater in the middle of a northeastern Philadelphia street – but sources told 6ABC the black box was in ‘decent shape.’

The National Transportation Safety Board also announced Sunday that it had recovered the plane’s enhanced ground proximity warning, which could also contain flight data, and both engines.

Those components will now be sent to the NTSB Vehicle Recorders Lab in Washington DC for evaluation, while the wreckage will be sent to a secure location in Delaware for further examination.

But Shai Gold, the managing director of corporate strategy and communications for Air Ambulance, previously said their was ‘absolutely no indication’ of any issues with the plane prior to the crash.

Maintenance records on the aircraft were ‘impeccable,’ he noted and the company goes by the book – following manufacturer specifications.

Gold also said the entire crew onboard the jet were top-notch.

‘The flight team [is] very experienced,’ he said. ‘We pick the best of the best to fly those air ambulances.

‘These are very careful, very seasoned individuals.’

The plane was carrying Valentina and her mother back to Mexico, after she spent months completing treatment at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia hospital for a condition that could not easily be treated in Mexico.

It reached about 1,500 feet before it plummeted to the ground.

In air traffic controller audio, a controller at Northeast Philadelphia Airport telling the jet to turn right when departing.

The air traffic controller repeated the request just about 30 seconds later, before asking the pilot ‘what frequency’ they were on.

Social media debated the next part of their conversation, as sharp-eared listeners said they could hear one side saying the other was ‘talking with the wrong people.’

A few seconds after that remark, an ominous moan could be heard coming from what several social media user believed was the cockpit.

After a brief pause, an air traffic controller asked, ‘What’s going on down there?’, to which another dispatcher answered: ‘We have a lost aircraft.’

‘We’re not exactly sure what happened, we’re trying to figure it out,’ they added. ‘For now, the field is going to be closed.’

The crash site, near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard, quickly became engulfed in flames, with buildings and vehicles caught in the inferno.

National Transportation Safety Board chair Jennifer Homendy called it a ‘high-impact crash’ that left the plane ‘highly fragmented.’

Seven people were killed in the tragedy, including Valentina and her mother, as well as the crew members onboard the jet.

They have since been identified as pilot Alan Alejandro Montoya Perales and co-pilot Josué Juárez of Veracruz, as well as Dr. Raúl Meza Arredondo and paramedic Rodrigo Lopez Padilla.

A seventh victim was killed inside a car as debris from the Learjet 55 exploded into the neighborhood, damaging nearby homes. That victim has not yet been identified.

Meanwhile, the number of people injured from the crash rose to 22, Mayor Cherelle Parker announced Sunday.

Five remained in the hospital, and three were left in critical condition.

Among the injured is one woman who remains in a medically-induced coma, her cousin told NBC Philadelphia.

‘Seventy percent of her body is burnt,’ Shantelle Fletcher said of 33-year-old Dominique, who was traveling with her longtime partner and her son to a Macy’s store at a nearby mall when the crash occurred.

‘They never made it to Macy’s,’ Fletchere said. ‘On the way there, that’s when the plane had crashed and their vehicle was near the blast area.’

Fortunately, she said, her cousin is responding well to medication.

Another person who remains hospitalized is 10-year-old Trey Howard, whose father explained that he was hit in the head by a piece of metal while in a nearby car.

Alexis Lloyd, meanwhile, lost her home in the explosion.

Her sister, Saleena Temple, said she was just a few feet away from the impact sight, cooking, when the plane crash landed – and caused her windows to implode.

But Lloyd was putting something in the trash in her kitchen, bending over at the time.

‘She could have been struck by glass,’ Temple said.

‘We believe in God, so we most definitely believe that, you know God had hands on her.’

At least 11 homes were significantly damaged in the explosion, along with some businesses, Parker said Sunday.

But local officials warned there could be even more victims, as they urged residents to check on their neighbors.

‘If there is somebody who you think may have been in the area and they’re missing and they haven’t checked in and you can’t reach them or they live there, call 911,’ city managing director Adam Thiel pleaded.

He noted that the joint investigation team, comprising nearly 30 local, state and federal agencies remain on the ground to assess the damage.

‘They have a lot of processing yet to do of the scene,’ Thiel said. ‘We have not yet recovered everything we need to recover from the scene.’

Parker also announced that officials were going door to door to seek information from neighborhood residents.

In the meantime, she urged patience.

‘It’s in times of crisis when you should remember who you are, and we have to remember what defines Philadelphia,’ the mayor said, according to WHYY.

‘We are a strong people, a resilient people who clearly understand how and why it is so important that we take care of each other.’
