CHURCH HILL, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Goshen Valley Fire Department has received a donated truck thanks to the America First Responders Foundation.

The apparatus was donated by the LeRaysville-Pike Volunteer Fire Department in Pennsylvania and delivered Monday afternoon.

Lt. David Lay of the Goshen Valley Fire Department explained to News Channel 11 that this particular vehicle is important to them due to the state of a local bridge they’re forced to traverse or detour around.

“This truck is a little smaller, and with the situation of the Goshen Valley Bridge, mutual aid is tough on us, for us to go across the river,” he said. “So this is a smaller truck and we should be good on the weight limit.”

This is the fire department’s second four-wheel drive vehicle. All necessary tools and equipment for the truck were included in the donation.

“A lot of our area is very mountainous, small roads, we have several houses up on the sides of these mountains. And of course, with this truck being four-wheel drive, it’ll enable us to get around a lot better.”

The Goshen Valley Fire Department said the truck donation was a much-needed blessing.
