BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. — A Bradford County mother and son were arrested just after midnight Monday morning after a domestic dispute that involved a shootout between the two inside their home, a news release states.
According to the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office, 66-year-old Judy Lee was sitting in a living room chair smoking a cigarette when her son, 46-year-old Michael Lee, started spraying an air freshener. The sheriff’s office said Michael Lee claimed to have asthma.
According to statements provided by the suspects, the sheriff’s office said Judy Lee pulled out a handgun and began shooting several rounds at her son. The report says Michael Lee retreated into his bedroom to get his own gun, returned to the living room and fired several rounds back at his mother.
Judy Lee fled to her neighbor’s house before anyone was harmed. The sheriff’s office said there was a 12-year-old family member inside the house during the shooting.
Deputies charged Judy Lee with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and child neglect. Michael Lee was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and child neglect. Both were arrested and booked into the Bradford County Jail.
