James Kennedy became a household name thanks to his time as a cast member on Vanderpump Rules. The highly successful reality television series helped James’ career as a DJ to blow up. He was a frequent hot topic in gossip blogs and enjoyed the fame that comes with being a reality star.

However, things turned serious when James was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence. His girlfriend at the time, Ally Lewber, was allegedly the victim in the scenario. This led to many people from James’ past coming forward with comments of their own. James himself even released a statement following the incident. Now, we have an official statement from Ally herself where she discusses her feelings and the future of her relationship with James.

Ally’s Loved Ones Were Reportedly Concerned For Her Following The News Of James’ Arrest

Ally Lewber and James Kennedy have decided to go their separate ways. James was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence last year, when he was accused of picking up his victim and throwing her to the ground. Ally eventually made things official on her Instagram story, revealing to her followers what really happened that night. She also took the opportunity to make it clear they weren’t together anymore. Ally also expressed her relief that the Burbank City Attorney’s Office dropped charges against James.

“Thank you all for your support and kindness. I am happy that prosecutors decided not to file against James, as I never desired criminal charges. We had an argument outside of his home related to him drinking again, however, I was not physically hurt. I was shocked by the headlines and disheartened by how the event was portrayed,” she wrote. “We are no longer together, but I’ll always support James and wish him the best with his sobriety and healing. Thank you for your understanding.”

Following Ally’s statement, James’ lawyer, Scott Leemon, spoke to TMZ about James’ arrest. He told the outlet that the Burbank City Attorney’s Office made it clear they would not be moving forward with their originally planned charges.

“I want to thank them for conducting a thorough and professional review of the matter involving my client, James Kennedy. Their diligent investigation confirmed what we have maintained from the beginning—there were no grounds for any charges to be filed against Mr. Kennedy,” Scott said in the statement. He also said that James is glad to be moving on from the matter, so he can focus on his sobriety and DJ career.

James cleared the air in a statement he released a month prior. In the statement, he came clean regarding his legal drama, telling his followers that he was “committed to making meaningful changes in [his] life.” “I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones. Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system around me,” he wrote.

Ally was previously seen moving some of her belongings out of the $1.3 million home she and James shared in Burbank, California. This is when a source told The U.S. Sun that her family “wants them to break up” and had intervened out of concern for her.

“[Ally is] doing okay, as good as can be expected,” the insider told the outlet. “She’s really leaning on her friends and family right now and everyone is showing up for her, she is very loved and everyone just wants her to know how valued and strong she is. It seems she’s forgotten some of that strength and independence along the way but she is finding it again. Physically she is fine but mentally she is processing a lot.”

Ally might have told her Instagram followers that she was “okay” after the arrest, but the police report made allegations regarding very specific physical forms of abuse. The insider claimed James “immediately stepped in” following the incident and made every effort to “control the narrative” regarding what had actually happened.

“He wanted to downplay it like he has before, making it seem like it was no big deal. People have even seen him trying to downplay things on the show so imagine how it is off camera. Her family had to step in so Ally can have some space and time to process and that’s exactly what they did,” the source claimed.

“Of course her family isn’t happy with any of this,” the insider continued. “There’s [sic] aspects of James they completely love, he can have the best heart. But his dark side is something her family doesn’t want her to tolerate and now that it’s come to a head like this, they’re trying to open Ally’s eyes. Ultimately no, they don’t want James and Ally together. They want the best for James but Ally is their little girl and she doesn’t deserve what he’s put her through. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare. Her mom just wants her little girl to be safe and happy.”

Despite the fact that it was believed James had been sober for years when he was arrested, his behavior was described as “erratic” and “aggressive” in the hours leading up to his time in jail.

James’ Ex, Rachel Leviss, Came Forward To Discuss Her Past With James Following His Arrest

And now people from James’ past are coming forward with their own stories about their time with him. James’ ex, Kristen Doute, dated the reality star from 2013 to 2015 while they were both on Vanderpump Rules. James was also engaged to Rachel Leviss, who recently said that he was very controlling during their time together. Rachel has said that while she feels vindicated by the news of his arrest, she is sad about it at the same time.

Rachel first reacted to the news in a statement via her attorneys Mark Geragos and Bryan Freedman. “This news is, unfortunately, not surprising. Rachel’s lawsuit describes, in significant detail, Mr. Kennedy’s long history of erratic, violent behavior and substance abuse,” the two revealed in a statement to TMZ, saying that NBCUniversal and Evolution allegedly were aware of James’ “troubling behavior all along.”

Rachel continued to speak out on her Instagram following James’ arrest. She began by referencing a post from 2018, where she responded to people calling her “dumb” for staying with James, even though he was accused of cheating.

“Using the word dumb to describe why I choose to stay with James is completely inappropriate,” she wrote in the post. “I grew up not knowing I had a learning disability and wasn’t diagnosed with ADD until college. Learning was always difficult for me and not passing my ice cream multiplication test was one of the earliest challenges I faced. However I am NOT stupid. In fact in college I figured out the way I learned best and worked very hard for my degree graduating with honors. Words like STUPID and DUMB are just as offensive as the word FAT. Some other adjectives that more accurately describe the situation are patience, understanding, empathetic and forgiving.”

Rachel reshared this post to her Instagram story and provided additional context regarding how she feels about it now. “I stand by what I wrote here,” she wrote. “Being in an abusive relationship is confusing because you believe in the potential of your significant other and can’t comprehend how someone who says they love you is intentionally hurting you.” “Bad times can be few and far between,” she added. “It’s easy to minimize the abuse and want to believe the person is capable of change.”

Rachel also discussed her mixed feelings in another post, writing, “I’ve experienced so many emotions this past week. Feeling happy and vindicated and also so sad and broken. I don’t want this to be brushed under the rug like the times before. So much of my podcast talks about my experience with coercive control and gaining the insight to overcome it. I am grateful to have had a voice this past year. Abuse can be heavy to talk about and re-examine.”

Kristen Doute Said That The News Of James’ Arrest Was Very Triggering For Her

Kristen recently spoke out on her podcast, Balancing Act with Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick. She reacted to James’ arrest and Rachel’s comments. She started by saying, “Oh, my heart’s beating so fast as I’m talking about it.” She continued, “So I do not speak to Rachel ‘Raquel’ Leviss at all. But I have read some things that she has been speaking out about. I think her rep was the first to speak out, and then she kind of has said some things as well.”

Kristen then tells listeners that she “resonates” with some of Rachel’s remarks, even though she disagrees with some of the other things she’s done. Kristen said, “And again, unpopular opinion, but I resonate very much with some of the things that Rachel has recently said. But I do want to say that me relating to her experience does not negate the fact that I do not support her lawsuit against Ariana. I still think that’s very ridiculous, but two things can be true at the same time.”

She added, “Like two things can happen at the same time, and one does not have to do with the other. So I know, again, like I said, very little at this point about the James situation, and it’s for good reason. Something that Rachel said was that it is very heavy to reexamine, and I couldn’t agree more.”

Kristen then said that she was very triggered upon hearing the news of James’ arrest based on some of her own experiences. Since she is also pregnant, Kristen said that she was trying to remain calm. However, it was clear to anybody who was listening that this was a very difficult subject for Kristen to discuss.

“It is also very heavy to think about the too many moments that I lived, and it is all very triggering. Sorry,” Kristen said. “And I have battled with speaking out to help with my healing, but then also needing a break to maintain my peace in this pregnancy. So it’s really been a big battle between those two things. So I do have some things to say. I will address it soon.”

She concluded, “And for just now, I want to say, James Kennedy, domestic abuse is not a challenging moment. Okay. And to Ally, I hope that you have all of the support that you deserve. So that is all. Switching gears.”
