ORLANDO, Fla. – An advisory committee on Tuesday will vote on a final plan of what a permanent memorial for the victims of the Pulse Nightclub massacre could look like.

The Pulse Advisory Committee has been working for several months on these plans, taking input from victims’ families and survivors. Once approved, the plans will go to city leaders for a final vote.

The Pulse Nightclub shooting happened nearly nine years ago. Since then, there’s been uncertainty on a permanent memorial for the victims.

During its final meeting Tuesday, the Pulse Advisory Committee will go through the design to honor the lives taken during the tragedy.

The concepts include a reflection space formed by the footprint of the original Pulse building, 49 columns in tribute to the victims and a garden, along with an education pavilion.

“They talked about plants and trees and a place to reflect. And I think this pretty much hit the nail on the head for most of them,” said Nancy Rosado, committee member.

The plans are happening after the city bought the Pulse property in 2023 when plans for a memorial and museum fell through.

The One Pulse Foundation that was leading the effort at the time dissolved a few weeks later.

Tuesday’s meeting is set for 4 p.m.
