AUSTIN (KXAN) Let’s be real: Many people have exes who are the human equivalent of roaches. This Valentine’s Day, the San Antonio Zoo is helping people “ex-terminate” their exes all while supporting the zoo’s conservation efforts.
The San Antonio Zoo has six festive events this Valentine’s Day for those in love, falling out of love or seeking their next match. Among those is the return of the zoo’s “Cry Me a Cockroach” event, a fundraiser where guests can bid adieu to former flames and feed the zoo’s hunger critters.
The event is available for those ages 18 and older, and participants can purchase a pest of choice a cockroach, a rodent or the vegetarian-friendly veggies option to offer as a tasty treat. Donation levels range from $5 to $25 and help fund the zoo’s initiatives.
Other opportunities include:
- Valentine’s celebration for singles and couples alike at the zoo on Feb. 8
- Candlelit dinner in the hippo viewing cave on Feb. 14
- After-hours tour of the zoo Feb. 10-15
- Animal kiss-o-gram video purchases
- Hippo candles available for purchase
“With events ranging from salty to sweet, the zoo promises to be the ultimate unforgettable destination for lovebirds, singles, or anyone looking for a memorable Valentine’s Day experience this year,” the San Antonio Zoo said.
