After previously detailing her mother’s struggle with dementia, Clare Crawley confirmed that her mom died.

“My forever guardian angel,” Crawley, 43, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, February 5, sharing a throwback family photo.

A cause of death was not immediately shared. Several of Crawley’s former Bachelor Nation alums offered their condolences.

“Clare, my heart breaks with you right now,” Sarah Herron wrote via Instagram comment. “Praying for peace for you and her family members.”

Clare Crawley Reveals Why Her Mom 'Wasn't Able' Attend to Her Wedding to Ryan Dawkins: 'I Was Kind of Frozen'

A change in plans. Clare Crawley and her husband, Ryan Dawkins, planned to hold two wedding ceremonies but several factors got in the way. “I wanted to get married in Mexico. We both found this spot in Mexico. We were like, ‘This is our spot. We’re going to have this big celebration,’” the former Bachelorette, […]

Lacy Faddoul, meanwhile, wrote, “Big hugs!! You’re a great daughter.”

Crawley’s mother is survived by the former Bachelorette and her other children. Crawley is also mom to daughter Rowan, whom she welcomed with husband Ryan Dawkins in January 2024. Crawley found love with Dawkins after she broke up with Dale Moss.

Crawley’s heartbreaking family news comes after she went back home to look after her mother, which seemingly led to a split between her and Moss. The reality TV stars split in September 2021 when Crawley left New York City for her native Sacramento, California.

“She wants to be in Sacramento to be close to her family, especially her mom who isn’t well,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “Dale wants to remain in NY. They will still support each other and have love for each other no matter what.”

The insider also noted that Crawley and Moss “have different visions and wedding planning wasn’t happening,” which made the California native unhappy in their relationship.

Crawley and Moss originally formed a connection while filming season 16 of The Bachelorette. The hairstylist ended up leaving the ABC show after less than two weeks so she could be with Moss.

Following the duo’s engagement during a November 2020 episode, Crawley opened up about witnessing Moss get to know her mother.

“She was like, ‘Where do you live?’ And he said ‘New York,’” she recalled on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast. “And she’s like, ‘Are you taking my daughter to New York with you?’ And he said, ‘Nope. We’re keeping her right here in Sacramento with you.’”

The Bachelor in Paradise alum, who lost her father to brain cancer in 2004, also detailed how watching over her mother while she battled Alzheimer’s and dementia changed her outlook on finding the right partner.

“Things like that are just reconfirming everything that I have been looking for and that I wanted in a man,” Crawley shared. “Somebody that will understand this and real life stuff. The fun stuff aside, I always said I want a guy who will be around for the hard stuff, for the nitty gritty, for when it’s not pretty, for when it’s not easy, and he’s just embodied that.”

Two months later, Moss and Crawley broke up briefly before reconciling in February 2021. After the exes sparked marriage rumors the following July, Us confirmed that they were not planning to walk down the aisle yet.

“They’re still working on some issues they have to overcome but it’s not like they make it known,” an insider told Us. “They’re more private when it comes to their issues. The good thing is that they’re happy together and enjoying this time as an engaged couple. They love each other very much and care for each other.”

In September 2021, Us confirmed that Moss and Crawley called it quits once more. She met Dawkins later that month and they wed in February 2023.
