Johnny Depp’s lawyer weighs in on Justin Baldoni’s ‘very aggressive’ approach in Blake Lively lawsuit

Johnny Depp’s attorney Benjamin Chew — who represented the actor in his defamation trial against Amber Heard — has weighed in on the “It Ends With Us” legal drama.

Chew described Justin Baldoni’s approach to the case as “very aggressive” after the “Jane the Virgin” alum launched a website with his amended complaint and an alleged “timeline of relevant events” to defend himself against Blake Lively’s sexual harassment claims.

“I think it is very aggressive,” Chew said during an appearance on “Law&Crime Sidebar with Jesse Weber” Tuesday.

“Usually you would not do something like that before a hearing, but I’m sure that they vetted it carefully, vetted the material carefully.”

“Certainly posting a pleading doesn’t seem to me to be out of bounds. These are pleadings made in the public record,” Chew continued.

“… But it’s a novel approach, a bold approach.”

Baldoni — who starred in and directed “It Ends With Us” — launched the website last week amid his contentious legal battle with Lively.

When asked which of the two stars has the upper hand in the case, Chew preferred to stay neutral.

“I’m going to remain agnostic as to who has the edge right now,” the attorney said of the multi-million dollar lawsuit.

However, he emphasized that having receipts will be “particularly persuasive … because everybody can see it.”

Chew also called the video and text message evidence “more impactful” than “assertions of counsel.”

Baldoni, 41, made headlines last month by releasing raw footage from the “It Ends With Us” set of himself and Lively, 37, filming a scene of their characters “falling in love.”

Despite attempting to refute her sexual harassment allegations with the video, Lively’s legal team claimed the clip was “damning” against him.

Baldoni and Lively’s trial date has been set for March 2026.

Meanwhile, Depp’s name was first connected to the “It Ends With Us” drama when it was revealed that Baldoni had hired Melissa Nathan’s crisis PR firm, The Agency Group, which represented the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star during his trial against Heard.

In Lively’s December 2024 complaint filed with the California Civil Rights Department, she claimed that Baldoni, Nathan, publicist Jennifer Abel and others orchestrated a coordinated smear campaign to ruin her reputation.

Baldoni and his team have denied the “Gossip Girl” alum’s allegations.
