SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Jenkins High School celebrated National Signing Day announcing several football players would be continuing their careers at the next level.
The Warriors send five players to college. Running back Coray Stafford will attend Dodge City Community College. He will not be alone. His teammate offensive lineman Ja’hawn Wilkerson will also be in Dodge City.
“They prepared me really good,” Wilkerson said. “Coach Benton, my O-line coach, Coach Welch, my head coach, just really prepared me for the best and I’m ready for it. Coaching, he pushed me forward. It was hard work to get to the spot I am now.”
Stafford said, “Because they threw me a scholarship for football and track because they know I love both sports. They just gave me the money for both sports. They let me commit for both sports.”
Mr. Do-it-all Trenton Rhodes is going to Central Georgia Tech College.
Defensive lineman Isaac Smith will go two hours up the road to Charleston Southern. Recio Collins will stay home and play at Savannah State.
“How welcoming the coaches, the coach, the head coach was, the coaching staff and the players,” Collins said. “They were very welcoming. The environment on the campus and the fact that it’s an HBCU. So I’m around a lot of people who wear my skin color.”
Congratulations to all the Jenkins’ signees.
