The second day of Megan Boswell’s murder trial continued Wesnesday at the Sullivan Coubty court in Tennessee.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, prosecutors have charged Boswell with false reporting and more serious offenses, including felony murder, child abuse, child neglect, and abuse of a corpse. They are seeking life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

On Thursday, Deputy District Attorney William Harper called the defendant’s father. Tommy Boswell, to the stand, where he testified about his divorce from Megan’s mother in 2016. He claimed that the defendant’s mother failed to send her to school, resulting in Megan entering state custody.

Tommy Boswell stated that Megan  Boswell entered foster care at 17 and gave birth to Evelyn while in the Department of Child Services’ care. He also noted that Megan moved back in with him when Evelyn was “very little,” and he provided them with “everything they needed” during that time.

“I made sure they had everything they needed, whether it was for her or the baby,” he testified. He explained that after a disagreement about the cleanliness of the house, Megan moved in with his mother.

The family then gifted Megan a trailer on their property, where she lived with Evelyn. Tommy Boswell grew emotional as he continued his testimony.

Tommy testified that he received word in December 2020 that Megan was no longer living with him. He believed she had moved in with her boyfriend, Hunter Woods, and asked her to clear out her belongings so they could rent the property.

He mentioned that he hadn’t seen Evelyn since Thanksgiving and didn’t meet Woods until around Christmas. Tommy found it odd that Evelyn was not there. He recalled that Megan initially told him Evelyn was with her father, Ethan Perry, then later claimed Perry’s mother had her.

Eventually, she said Ethan wouldn’t return Evelyn, prompting Tommy to offer to go get her himself.

Tommy Boswell continued on to say  that Megan asked for a few days to sort things out but did not contact him. Frustrated, he issued her an ultimatum: “I’m gonna get on the phone and find my granddaughter…enough is enough.”

He stated that he cooperated with police and that they searched his property in February 2020. After discussing the situation with his former wife,  Tommy Boswell called the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) back to his property. He recalled seeing Megan’s car near the playhouse and suspected it might contain a clue. Police later found Evelyn’s body in the playhouse.

In September 2020,Special agent  Brian Fraley with the TBI explained how he came across the body, which had been hidden in a trashcan inside theplay shed on Tommy Biswell’s property. It’s the same shed that  Megan Boswell played in as a child.

“It was my belief (the trash can was) placed there recently,” Fraley said, recalling when he discovered Evelyn’s body in 2020. “I observed a leg (with) a foot attached … on top of the trash. It was consistent with an infant of the described age of the missing victim.”

Boswell has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

Tje trial continues. Check back for updates.
