EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) — The Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector has a new interim chief patrol agent.

Walter N. Slosar is now head of the sector that stretches from the eastern edge of El Paso County to the New Mexico-Arizona state line.

Slosar will replace Anthony “Scott” Good, who was named head of the El Paso Sector in March 2023.

Slosar returns to El Paso from the neighboring Big Bend Sector, which is headquartered in Marfa, Texas. He was acting deputy chief patrol agent of the El Paso Sector from 2021 to 2022.

Border Report noticed on Wednesday morning that the X and Instagram accounts for the El Paso Sector chief had changed names, from Anthony “Scott” Good to Walter N. Slosar.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the change in a news release issued Thursday afternoon.

Walter N. Slosar

“I am honored to lead and serve alongside the dedicated men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol in the El Paso Sector,” Slosar said in a statement. “National security cannot exist without border security, and border security cannot exist without our Border Patrol Agents and Professional Staff. Our mission is to secure our borders and protect our communities. This mission will define every action we take, every goal we have, and every resource we use. I am determined to enhance our operational capabilities and strengthen partnerships with federal, state, local, and DoD enforcement partners to achieve our shared mission.”

A graduate of the 384th U.S. Border Patrol Academy, Slosar was first assigned to the El Paso Sector’s Santa Teresa Station on Aug. 2, 1998. He has since held various leadership positions at the CBP and U.S. Border Patrol headquarters:

  • Patrol Agent in Charge, Santa Teresa Station, El Paso Sector
  • Acting CBP Attaché in Guatemala
  • CBP Advisor in Panama

  • Deputy Patrol Agent in Charge, Fort Hancock Station, El Paso Sector
  • Assistant Chief, USBP Headquarters
  • Field Operations Supervisor, Santa Teresa Station, El Paso Sector
  • Supervisory Border Patrol Agent, Ysleta Station and Santa Teresa, El Paso Sector

In November 2023, Slosar replaced Sean L. McGoffin, who was picked to lead the Yuma Sector in Arizona.

Good replaced Gloria Chavez, who was reassigned to lead the Rio Grande Valley Sector.

Good has been with the agency since 2001 and has had various positions, including leadership roles, along the north and southern border since graduating from the 466th USBP Academy.

He started his career in California’s El Centro Sector, and has served as Patrol Agent in Charge of the Ajo Station in the Tucson Sector; Division chief of the Laredo Sector; Chief Patrol Agent of the Havre Sector in Montana; and Humanitarian Counselor to the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Washington D.C.

Good’s education and accomplishments:
