Hannah has since returned to work and today told 9News of the attack.

“She just grabbed my hair and then started kicking me,” she said.

“The other friends that ran first, came back and started bashing me as well.

“I was screaming out like ‘help, help, help!'”

Police said a man passing by saw the incident and stepped in to help.

No arrests have yet been made.

Police described the three girls as being in their “early teens”.

They said one girl was wearing a rainbow hoodie and another was wearing a black hoodie.

They were last seen running east along a footpath on the Maroondah Highway.

Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to come forward.
