Christmas is long over but details are still coming in about how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent the holiday. Part of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s festive season included a private Christmas card showing them with Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. The photo, which features the royal kids’ faces, has now been revealed by one of their celebrity friends.

A December 2024 interview featuring the 90-year-old feminist icon’s New York home included Steinem’s office area. On a side table sat a black-and-white image of Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lili.
It showed the family of four laying on what appeared to be grass or a bale of hay (via Hello! Magazine). They all smiled as Archie playfully draped his hand on Meghan’s forehead.
It’s a significant moment for Harry and Meghan, who are known to rarely give the world a look at their lives as parents. The most they’ve ever shared of Archie and Lili happened in their 2022 Netflix docuseries in which they shared personal photos and video. These days, though, Harry and Meghan only make occasional comments about their kids.

In December 2024, Harry and Meghan released their official family Christmas card. It included a number of pictures, but most memorably a never-before-seen snap of the couple with their two children.
Lili and Archie could be seen—with their backs to the camera—walking into their parents’ open arms at their Montecito, Calif., with the family dogs standing nearby. Archie could be seen wearing jeans, tennis shoes, and a sweater. Lili, meanwhile, drew comparisons to Princess Charlotte, wearing white knee socks and a floral dress.
It marked the first time Lili had been seen in an official photo from the Sussexes since her first birthday in 2022. At the time, Harry and Meghan released a portrait of Lili sitting in the grass at their former U.K. home, Frogmore Cottage.
Archie and Lili stay out of the public eye because of security
Previously, an insider explained why the couple keep Archie and Lili’s lives private: security. “I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world. But they just can’t,” the friend told Us Weekly.
Harry and Meghan pay for private security after losing their royal protection detail in 2020 when they left England. Meanwhile, Harry’s in an ongoing legal battle to reinstate his U.K. security.
“[Prince] William’s kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they’re recognizable,” they explained. “And the same doesn’t apply to Meghan and Harry’s children. They know the world wants to see [Archie and Lili but] I would expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does.”
Harry and Meghan are expected to make a joint appearance at the Invictus Games in Canada, which begin on Feb. 8, 2025. If Archie and Lili attend—and that’s a big if—it will mark their first public event as a family of four.
