Angelina Jolie offered a rare glimpse into her friendship with ex-husband Jonny Lee Miller.

During the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Wednesday, February 5, Jolie, 49, was shown a clip from her 1995 movie Hackers, in which she costarred with Miller, 52, before their wedding.

“I was just saying to somebody, it’s really funny because I think you’re starting with Hackers, right?” Jolie said before the clip was played. “Yeah, it’s Jonny. I just talked to him. I love that — I get to see my ex-husband with 2,000 people.”

The actress, who received the Maltin Modern Master Award on Wednesday, reflected on their collaboration.

After meeting on the set of Hackers, Jolie and Miller got married six months later in 1996. They separated after a year of marriage and Jolie ultimately filed for divorce in 1999, finalizing the agreement later that year.

While Jolie reflected on her sweet bond with Miller, the actor recently recalled the early days of their relationship. Miller revealed the impressive lengths he went through to impress Jolie when they were still a couple.

“I jumped out of an airplane,” he quipped during a February 2024 Radio X interview. “It wasn’t my idea. She said, ‘Let’s do something exciting this weekend. Why don’t we go to Hemet, which is just outside L.A., and jump out of an airplane.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, sounds great.’ She is cool as a cucumber. Fearless, that woman.”

Following their split, Miller moved on with actress Michele Hicks. The pair welcomed son Buster in 2008 and were married for a decade before their 2018 divorce. Jolie found love with Billy Bob Thornton and they tied the knot in 2000 before calling it quits three years later.

She subsequently started dating Brad Pitt, whom she wed in 2014. Pitt, 60, and Jolie share six children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, both 16 — and separated in 2016. They were involved in a lengthy divorce battle before finalizing it in December 2024.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Jolie’s lawyer James Simon told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
