With the exorbitant amounts of money being doled out on Beast Games, it’s easy to forget these are real people competing for real money. Now that the show is down to its final six competitors, we’re finally getting to know these players as people, and why they need the $5 million. 

From the beginning, Player 831 (Jeff Allen) has been upfront about his mission: to win the money and find a cure for his son’s CTD (Creatine Transporter Deficiency).

What is Creatine Transporter Deficiency (CTD) Disease?

This genetic disorder is extremely rare, with only 150 cases reported worldwide. The condition limits the patient’s brain from accessing creatine, a compound crucial for energy and development. On a day to day basis, it affects speech, cognitive abilities, and motor function. There are currently no FDA-approved treatments for CTD. 

In winning the competition, Player 831 hopes to fund critical research, drug development, clinical trials, and resources for families affected by CTD. He shared his son with the world on last week’s episode of Beast Games, where the top ten were reunited with their families. 

Player 831 is one of six contestants left for a chance to win the $5 million. In yesterday’s episode, the remaining ten had to come to a consensus six times to decide who the finalists would be. Jeff was the second person to be chosen. 

The episode ended with a twist: the cash prize would be doubled to $10 million, but only if someone is brave enough to flip a coin. If it lands on tails, then the money increases. If it lands on heads, the prize fund stands at $5 million, and the contestant who volunteered to flip the coin will be eliminated. Episode 9 ends on a cliffhanger, with Player 974 flipping the coin.
