The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says the man was shot several times, but that he is “stable.”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot Thursday night after attempting to break up an argument between a younger sibling of his and “two unknown suspects,” according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said the shooting happened in the 100 block of Mill Creek Road.

While the man was in the process of deescalating the argument, JSO said another argument then began between the man and one of the suspects his sibling was arguing with, who then shot the man several times.

The man is in his 20s and was shot one time in the lower back/hip area, according to JSO; he was taken to a local hospital by a family member.

“Currently the victim is in stable condition and cooperative with the investigation,” JSO Sgt. Johnson told First Coast News. “Violent Crime Unit Detectives along with Crime Scene Detectives are currently on scene conducting the investigation. We believe this to be an isolated incident.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
