Sony’s PlayStation Network experienced a lengthy interruption that started on Friday night, causing frustration among gamers worldwide. Many were unable to reach the online store and other applications or functions until late into Saturday.

“We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN,” a post on the the official Ask PlayStation X account said Friday night.

According to Sony’s PlayStation Network status page, services including account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct all were still facing issues as of Saturday morning.

Sony came under fire from irate gamers who couldn’t understand why it was taking so long to resolve the connectivity issues. Sony

The company said on its website that it was working to resolve the connectivity problems as soon as possible.

The network errors appeared to begin around 6 p.m., with over 69,000 users reporting connectivity issues, according to the outage tracker Down Detector. By Saturday morning, more than 5,700 users were still reporting outages.

Gamers from the United States to Britain took to social media to vent about having trouble logging in and accessing the network’s features. Many, however, also blasted Sony for keeping mum about what had caused the outages and why it was taking so long to restore some users’ connections.

“This is ridiculous and bad for business,” one aggrieved user wrote Saturday morning. “We deserve answers immediately [for] the fact that they are still down like what the f–k.”

The PlayStation Network has previously been plagued by outages, most recently in October, when it was down for several hours.

Sony did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
