Dennis “DJ” Hernandez (WFSB).

The brother of late football star Aaron Hernandez, who died by suicide while serving a life sentence for murder, has learned his fate for threatening to shoot up two universities.

Dennis “DJ” Hernandez, 38, was sentenced on Friday to roughly 18 months of imprisonment, time already served, and three years of supervised release for making interstate threats, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced in a press release.

While on supervised release, Hernandez must continue mental health and substance abuse treatment and allow his electronic devices to be monitored by the U.S. Probation Office, and he is prohibited from visiting the University of Connecticut and other locations targeted in his threats. He pleaded guilty in December 2024 to transmitting interstate communications containing a threat to injure.
