The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says a dark-colored vehicle was seen leaving Columbus Avenue, where the man was found, around the time of reported gunshots.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was found shot to death in Jacksonville’s Woodstock area Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sergeant Highfill said that at 8:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 3400 block of Columbus Avenue in reference to gunshots. When they arrived, the man who is “around 30 years of age,” was found with a gunshot wound to his head, according to Highfill; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office says a dark-colored vehicle was seen leaving the area around the time of the reported gunshots, however, “at this time,” the circumstances that led to the man’s death are unknown.
“Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit have responded and are conducting the investigation,” Highfill said. “We are continuing to investigate and coordinate our efforts with our partners at the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office.”
