A GROUP of Danish nationals has made a bizarre bid to buy up California after President Donald Trump launched a campaign to acquire Denmark-owned Greenland.

Under the newly proposed “Denmarkification” plan, Disneyland would get a new name.

Campaigners are asking for $1 trillion to buy up the West Coast state and turn it into a territory that spreads Danish values.

The ridiculous plan is a thinly veiled response to President Trump’s interest in Greenland, which Denmark currently owns.

Trump wishes to take control of the land and its 56,000 inhabitants to expand the US footprint and further international security efforts.

However, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen isn’t impressed by the bold request, telling Trump behind closed doors that the autonomous territory isn’t for sale.

The international spat has sparked tension among Danes as they hit back against Trump.

Xavier Dutoit, the founder of the California campaign, has already found nearly 200,000 supporters for his Denmarkification project.

According to the movement’s website, the organizer believes that Denmark should be California because “Why not?”

“Have you ever looked at a map and thought, ‘You know what Denmark needs? More sunshine, palm trees, and roller skates,'” the website reads.

“Well, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make that dream a reality.”

Further in the description, Dutoit explains how purchasing California would give Danish people access to endless sunshine and “tech dominance.”

He also proposed renaming Disneyland Hans Christian Andersenland to give the new property a bit of a hometown flair.

“Mickey Mouse in a Viking helmet? Yes, please,” says the site.’

For a small price of $1 trillion, Dutoit believes his country can bring Danish values to one of America’s most influential states.

“We’ll bring hygge to Hollywood, bike lanes to Beverly Hills, and organic smørrebrød to every street corner,” the description said.

“Rule of law, universal health care, and fact-based politics might apply.”
