The notoriously mild-tempered Saquon Barkley turned into a party animal after winning his first Super Bowl title. 

Barkley, 28, was seen on video shotgunning beers and chugging tequila while shirtless inside the Philadelphia Eagles locker room on Sunday, February 9, after their 40-22 blowout of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. 

In another video, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was also celebrating his first Super Bowl win, poured a beer all over Barkley’s head during the wild locker room scene. 

Not only was Barkley toasting to a Super Bowl victory, but Sunday also marked the running back’s birthday. During a postgame interview with ESPN, Barkley and Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean — who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Sunday and had an interception return for touchdown in the game’s second quarter — were given a birthday cake, which they ate live on air.

Barkley signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Eagles in March 2024 after spending the first six seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants. 

His 57 rushing yards in Super Bowl LIX allowed Barkley to break the single-season NFL record for rushing yards including playoffs (2,504), previously set by the Denver Broncos’ Terrell Davis (2,476) in 1998.

“It’s cool,” Barkley said of setting the record. “To be honest, the most important thing was winning the Super Bowl. Because if we didn’t win today, all those accolades and all those yards wouldn’t mean anything. So, it’s cool.”

He added, “I don’t want to downplay it because I couldn’t do it without the boys up front, and I know how much that means to them. For me, thankful. Couldn’t do it without God, but I like that Lombardi Trophy a little bit more.”

As for the Lombardi Trophy, awarded to the Super Bowl winners, Barkley said, “She looked prettier in person, I’ll tell you that. Something that you dream of. I’m just happy to hold it, be able to give it a kiss.”

Before the locker room shenanigans, Barkley was able to celebrate on the field with his fiancée, Anna Congdon, and their two children: daughter Jada, 6, and son Saquon Jr., 2.

“Hell of a year,” Barkley reflected after the game. “I couldn’t do it without the big boys up front, everyone on this team. I just appreciate them, the whole Eagles organization. Me being a newcomer, welcomed me in with open arms and helping build confidence back in me too. That was definitely helpful.”
