JOHNSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Two people were sentenced Feb. 7 in connection with a bomb threat at the Johnson County Courthouse in February 2024.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCS), Julianna Reece and Brandon Stanton pleaded guilty to the charges and asked Criminal Court Judge Lisa Rice to consider probation.

“Ultimately after considering the facts, both subjects were ordered to serve their sentence,” the JCSO said in a news release.

Reece was sentenced to serve two years and one month. Stanton was ordered to serve a three-year sentence.

In February 2024, the Johnson County Courthouse was evacuated due to a reported bomb threat, the JCSO told News Channel 11.

An investigation into the threat led to the arrest of Reece and Stanton, the JCSO stated. No device was found after a search of the courthouse.

In addition to the JCSO, the Mountain City Police Department, Johnson County EMS, Johnson County EMA and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the original incident.
