SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will begin repairs to Chatham Parkway overpass at I-16 in mid-February.

The goals for the project are including replacing damaged beams from last summer’s bridge strike incident, repairing all barrier walls and pouring a new deck. GDOT anticipates three traffic shifts in the coming months as work progresses with all lanes open to traffic above I-16 in July 2025.

The final project phase is bridge jacking to meet the new interstate widening grade below this overpass, as well as slab replacements. GDOT expects the contractor to perform this in June, which will require an extended detour period.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and obey the rules in work zones.
