Brady was most recently been co-host of the much-loved Remember When program on 3AW alongside Simon Owens.

Previously, he shared a legendary on-air partnership with Bruce Mansfield on Nightline.

News of Brady’s passing broke on 3AW this morning.

“We’ve had some very sad news here at 3AW, he’s been a dear friend and colleague for many years here,” 3AW Mornings presenter Tom Elliot said.

“Very early this morning, Philip Brady died,” Elliot said.

“I can tell you he had a terrible cancer diagnosis, he told me late last year.

“He said he was riddled with cancer, and didn’t expect to last too long, so for me, this isn’t a surprise.

“But it is very sad, because I don’t think we’ll see the likes of Philip Brady again.

“Someone who could do it all – he was good on TV, he was good on radio, he could make people laugh, he could talk about things seriously if he had to.

“He was always positive, he had a wonderful energy, he always had a smile on his face.”

Tributes have begun flowing in for the veteran broadcaster.

“Phil was a great friend to many, truly loving his work on air and helping so many listeners and colleagues with advice, companionship and friendship,” 3AW Station Manager Stephen Beers said.

“Phil will be greatly missed by all at 3AW.”

Brady was hired as a booth announcer by Channel Nine in 1958, before joining broadcaster Graham Kennedy.

In the 60s and 70s, Brady hosted TV game shows including Concentration, Everybody’s Talking, Moneymakers, Junior Moneymakers, Casino Ten, Get the Message and Password.

Brady rejoined 3AW in 1990 where he hosted Remember When with Bruce Mansfield, before the duo took over NIghtline until 2019.

He continued to appear on Remember When until January 12 2025.

Brady announced his retirement from radio on February 2, 2025.
