The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says Adiel Gonzalez was naked and “covered in dirt” when he answered the door when they found his mother dead in their shared home.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A newly released arrest report for a 20-year-old Jacksonville man accused of murdering his mother says he had been exhibiting strange behavior before she was found dead in their shared apartment. Police records say Gonzalez killed his mother with “personal weapons,” which means he used his own body such as hands, fist, feet and teeth.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Adiel Gonzalez for the death of his mother on Thursday, after his brother said he had not heard from her. When Gonzalez would not let him in, police responded; when he came to the door, he was naked and covered in dirt, the report says.
The report said he had a “hostile disposition” with the police and told them to leave, but police persisted because they had tracked his mother’s phone to the apartment and knew it was inside. Gonzalez left and officers went inside, where they found a blanket with a stack of items on top. When they lifted a corner of the blanket, they saw a human foot. They then found the dead body underneath the blanket.
The arrest report lists prior incidents involving Gonzalez. Police say he had prior conflicts with his mother, because he had tried to leave the apartment “naked and masturbating.”
A neighbor also told JSO that Gonzalez “would frequently walk outside naked and masturbate in the sunlight,” the report says.
Gonzalez’s mother had reported him to police, including a “recent” attempt to serve an involuntary order on him for refusing to wash his hands or use utensils, the report says.
Gonzalez does not have a previous criminal history, according to JSO’s online database.
He is also charged with kidnapping while inflicting bodily harm or terrorizing a victim.
