BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — A community group named “Evelyn’s Army” gathered outside the Sullivan County Justice Center on Monday, holding signs and engaging with traffic to raise awareness of Evelyn Boswell’s story and the murder trial her mother Megan Boswell is currently undergoing.

Group member Amber Rogers told News Channel 11 that the group held prayer vigils for baby Evelyn in the past while she was considered missing and after her body was discovered in a playhouse. She said community members in the group have followed the Boswell case since the beginning.

“We brought food out to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office when the investigation first started in 2020,” she said. “We’ve tried to keep up with the case over the past several years. But now that the trial’s began, we feel that it’s important to show our support for Evelyn because she doesn’t really have much family doing that right now. So we feel called to be her family and her support during this. So we just wanted to do this out of love and to fight for justice for a little girl that deserves it.”

Rogers said that the group will continue doing something they’ve done in the past, but now, it’ll be in Evelyn’s honor.

“In the past, we have made comfort bags for the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office for children that would come in, in abusive situations. And we provided comfort bags to them from Evelyn’s Army with, you know, treats, toys, candy, coloring books and a handwritten note from our group to show our support and love to them. We continue to plan on doing that in the future to continue Evelyn’s name.”

Rogers said that Evelyn’s Army plans to demonstrate with signs each day the trial goes on until a verdict is reached.
