The Bachelor Season 29, Episode 3 featured a romantic one-on-one date between Grant Ellis and Carolina Quixano, a big group date, a surprise prom, and a spur of the moment three-on-one date. Initially, Grant was supposed to have a second one-on-one date with Beverly Ortega, but in an unexpected twist, she left the show in a mysterious fashion.

On Monday night, members of Bachelor Nation were left wondering what happened to the 30-year-old insurance salesperson from Howard Beach, New York. While we await more details from the franchise or Ortega herself, here’s what we know about Beverly’s premature departure from the show.

On the day of Beverly and Grant’s schedule one-on-one date, the women explained she was “very sick” and she wouldn’t be coming back to the house. Per Reality Steve, “Apparently, Beverly got very sick after the basketball date and was taken to the hospital. She eventually wasn’t able to be medically cleared to return back to the show so she went home this episode.”

While the episode gave no additional details as to why exactly Beverly left the show, we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for an Instagram post from her with more information.

While we didn’t get to know Beverly too well over the course of Season 29’s first two episodes, on Night 1 we learned that she almost competed for the title of Miss Dominican Republic but decided to compete for the title of Mrs. Ellis instead. In Episode 2, Grant was impressed by Beverly’s skills on the basketball court, and he later opened up to her about his family in a move that felt “big” for him.

According to Beverly’s official Bachelor bio, she’s “ a sweetheart ready to find love” who “comes from a close-knit, loving family, and her parents’ 30-plus-year marriage has been the blueprint for the kind of love she wants for herself.”

“Beverly is ready for a man that will truly love her,” the bio continues. “She’s looking for a partner who is trustworthy, kind and understanding. When she’s not working, Beverly likes to go shopping or watch her favorite movies like Titanic and The Princess Diaries.”

Though Beverly didn’t find her fairytale ending with Grant, here’s hoping the Bachelor experience made her more excited about finding love.

The fact that she got an early one-on-one date was a promising sign, and though she had to leave the process early, she’s not the only contestant in franchise history to head home because of unforeseen circumstances. Most memorably, two women on The Golden Bachelor — Marina Perera and Joan Vassos — said early goodbyes to Gerry Turner, and as we know, that turned out great for now engaged Golden Bachelorette Joan!

After Beverly’s departure, Grant ended the week by saying goodbye to three more women, and in Episode 4, his search for lasting love will continue in Madrid, Spain.

New episodes of The Bachelor Season 29 premiere Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
