Driver hospitalized after crashing stolen truck in Tolono

TOLONO, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police are investigating after officials said a person driving a stolen vehicle crashed in Tolono Monday night.

The crash happened at East Washington Street and County Road 1200E around 7:30 p.m. State Police said the vehicle involved was a Dodge truck that had been reported stolen from the Illini Prairie rest stop on Interstate 57. Prior to the crash, the truck was seen traveling through Tolono at a high speed.

Nearing the intersection of Washington and 1200E, officials said the driver did not stop at the intersection, left the road and rolled over. The driver of the truck was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

State Police said the investigation into the truck theft and crash is ongoing and criminal charges are pending.
