DENVER (KDVR) — Law enforcement has now arrested 10 of 12 people facing charges in connection to a “violent” armed kidnapping at an Aurora apartment complex, the Aurora Police Department announced in a press release Tuesday.

The home invasion and kidnapping, which happened Dec. 17 at The Edge at Lowry Apartments, originally resulted in 19 people being detained, Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain said in a press conference at the time. A male and female victim were allegedly tied up, pistol-whipped, beaten and stabbed by about 12 armed individuals, Chamberlain said.

Aurora police announced charges back in January for nine of those detained and obtained warrants for three additional people who at the time were not in custody.

Denver police on Saturday arrested one of those additional people, identified by Aurora police on Tuesday as Yusmary Carolina Panza-Ruiz, 34. Aurora police said Panza-Ruiz faces three charges of second-degree kidnapping, two charges of extortion and one charge of second-degree burglary, all felonies.

The Edge at Lowry Apartments has been at the center of national attention for the December kidnapping, as well as previous cases involving shootings and a viral video of armed people entering an apartment unit.

affiliate KDVR also confirmed the complex was part of an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement raid earlier in February.

The complex was slated to close on Jan. 10 after an emergency court order from the Aurora Municipal Court determined the apartment complex at Dallas Street and East 12th Avenue presented “an immediate threat to public safety and welfare if allowed to remain open.” The city of Aurora said later that month they were hiring property administrators to help tenants of the troubled apartment complex, the Edge at Lowry, relocate after closure notices were posted.

The kidnapping investigation is ongoing, and Aurora police said anyone with information can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
