Scott Mitchell, 50, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the deaths of two men in Binghamton, New York.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A man wanted in a New York double murder was arrested in Daytona Beach Wednesday after a multi-state manhunt, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Scott Mitchell, 50, following a tip made by the public.

Police in Binghamton, New York, say Mitchell is wanted for the double murder of Daniel McCloe and Marshall VanOver, who were killed Feb. 3.

Authorities across the East Coast were searching for Mitchell.

A sheriff’s office in South Carolina posted on social media Saturday that deputies responded to a “suspicious vehicle” that was later connected to Mitchell. The vehicle was taken into custody.

Then, on Tuesday, deputies in Volusia County said Mitchell was believed to be on foot in the West DeLand area. He was considered to be armed and dangerous.

The person who called in the tip was awarded $10,000.
