Army charges soldier after wife's disappearance

HONOLULU (KHON) — The Army’s Office of Special Trial Counsel has formally charged Pfc. Dewayne Arthur Johnson II with five charges and 19 specifications related to the disappearance of his wife, Mischa Johnson, according to affiliate KHON.

The charges include:

  • The murder of Mischo Johnson
  • Intentionally killing her unborn child
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Providing false statements
  • Distribution of child pornography

Mischa Johnson is presumed dead, though her body has not been found. Pfc. Johnson waived his right to an Article 32 hearing, which typically serves as a preliminary investigation.

The case has now been referred to a military judge, who will schedule the arraignment, pretrial hearings, and trial dates. Johnson remains in pretrial confinement. The case continues to be investigated by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
