Controversial The Real Housewives of New York star Brynn Whitfield has caused a stir with fans wondering exactly how she made enough money to enjoy her luxurious lifestyle, especially when it didn’t appear that she had a normal 9-5 job.

Although she jokingly referred to herself as a “trophy wife in training,” the reality TV star and socialite has worked to build her own career. Despite fellow Housewife Ubah Hassan commenting on the personal favors Brynn did to find success, as reported by Collider, she has a successful career in marketing and communications.

“I get paid really well to do like, 10 hours of work per week,” she explained on Season 14 of RHONY. “I honed in on the exact thing that I’m really, really good at and I’m seen as an expert. My clients that I’ve worked for in the past, now they come to me as a consultant.”

The socialite with Midwestern roots joins Ubah Hassan, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Sai de Silva, and Erin Lichy for the rebooted season 14 of RHONY.

Brynn Whitfield has been open on The Real Housewives of New York about her tough childhood growing up in Indiana. She opened up to Bravo about how her parents “weren’t really in the picture,” and she was raised by her grandmother, who legally adopted all three of her daughter’s children. Sadly, her grandmother passed away in 2020.

Brynn explained on the reality show that her mother had her as a teenager, and was ill-equipped to look after them. She said her parents “got into some trouble” and she suffered “abuse and neglect” as a child.

“There was, like, abuse and neglect,” an emotional Brynn revealed. “I wasn’t picked up for like six days or my diaper wasn’t changed.”

[Brynn’s mom] had her own issues and stuff and then my father, older. The only time that my brother, sister, and I lived with my parents was the first six months of my life, and we lived in like, you know, section 8 housing.

She continued, “It wasn’t a good situation. We were poor as f**k, welfare, food stamps, everything.”

Bethenny Frankel Said The New RHONY Is Unwatchable: Do You Agree?

On Saturday, Real Housewives Of New York OG Bethenny Frankel shared her unvarnished thoughts on the RHONY reboot, and though she didn’t hold back at all, she later deleted the TikTok post.

Copies were saved, and Bethenny said fans consider the new cast to be “unwatchable,” and said “30 people” have seen it in total.

Do you agree with Bethenny? Is the new RHONY tedious and impossible to watch?

Brynn overcame her tough childhood, thanks to her grandmother Darelene, to work her way up the corporate ladder. Before finding her way into public relations and marketing, the Real Housewives of New York star nearly became a doctor. She started her college career in pre-med.

“My entire life I grew up, I wanted to be a doctor,” Brynn shared on an episode of RHONY. “I was pre-med until second semester of my junior year.”

However, her dreams of a career in medicine ended after she failed organic chemistry and had a “breakdown” in college. She ultimately graduated from Indiana’s Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, and advertising with a minor in political science.

At college, she participated in the student council and the Association for Women in Communications. She later enrolled at George Washington University to study political management.

Although Brynn Whitfield is now a controversial figure in the world of Bravo because of her ongoing issues with Ubah Hassan, she was incredibly popular in her first season. Fans liked how she had her own career and seemed more relatable than the previous The Real Housewives of New York castmates.

Brynn explained to Dear Media (via Reality Tea) that she landed the part on RHONY through a mutual friend. “They wanted her to do it, and she was like, ‘I’m not going to do it.’ So she gave them a list of names, and they reached out to me.”

She admitted that she thought it was a joke when she got the phone call. “I’m not married. I’m not like Mrs. Bloomberg. I rent,” she joked.

To make the cut, Brynn was interviewed via Zoom to make sure she was right for the role. She admitted she got drunk beforehand to ensure her big personality came across. Brynn has been centered on scandal, with many calling for her to quit the show.

Life & Style reports that Brynn is worth roughly $3 million. It is unknown how much she is paid for appearing on Real Housewives of New York and her net worth is alleged as her investments and properties are private.
