MOMENCE, Ill. (WCIA) — A popular Netflix series is being filmed in Kankakee County this week.

The third season of “Monster” has taken over downtown Momence. And, according to the Momence Police Department, crews were filming on Wednesday, beginning around 9 a.m.

The scene took place on Washington St. and involved a large number of men, armed with rubber/plastic prop firearms. The firearms are “non-operational” according to police. But, for safety reasons, police inspected the weapons before filming.

The police department said officers would be on scene all day, but that there were “no safety concerns.”

“Monsters” season three follows notorious serial killer Ed Gein portrayed by Charlie Hunnam.

Season one was a 10-part anthology series that followed Jeffery Dahmer and his crimes. Season two was told in nine episodes and followed Lyle and Erik Menendez, two brothers convicted of killing their parents in 1989.
