NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. () – Many in the CSRA are still feeling the impacts of Hurricane Helene—many lost their vehicles from the storm more than four months ago.

But Thursday, one lucky person was chosen as the winner of the Dr. Mac Bowman Horizon Foundation 2025 raffle.

Hundreds of people signed up to buy a ticket for a chance to win a 2024 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn Truck.

The truck—decked out in sponsors—is valued at just over $50,000.

The Horizon Foundation did a reverse raffle, pulling all the tickets from a raffle drum, and the winner is the last ticket not selected.

Players from the men’s and women’s golf teams at Paine College served as volunteers.

“It’s a huge thing for us to be part of the community. So if we’re not part of the community, we’re not being or becoming the players that we need to become,” said Head Coach Andre Lacey.

Dr. Bowman is also a cardiologist at Piedmont Hospital.

He and his team also took the opportunity to offer free health screenings while at the dealership. 

“We do blood pressure screens, we do blood work, we look at different types of cholesterol in arteries. We try to provide those things that individuals need to improve their health before anything happens,” said Bowman.

Part of this year’s ticket sales will be going to GAP Ministries in Augusta.

Organizers and law enforcement say the proceeds couldn’t be going to a better cause. 

“They’re helping people that are trying to transition back into society. Maybe some have been homeless, or some just need a helping hand. They need assistance with food, or assistance with personal hygiene items. They help people get identification and birth certificates—so it’s a privilege for our club to be able to provide financial support for them this year,” said Dustin Young.

“This foundation is helping some of the same people that we run into. We’re coming from the same place—just simply want to help folks get back on their feet and make good choices,” said Chief Deputy Bill Probus.

Miracle Toyota General Sales Manager Derrick Corbitt says from the dealership’s point of view, they’re just happy to host a day full of celebrations.

“This is great for us man. I don’t even care if I sell cars today—-today I’m just happy we can be part of all of this. This is bigger than the dealership to us,” said Derrick Corbitt.

Organizers say while Cherry gets to go home with the new truck, you can’t put a price tag on the difference that the proceeds will help make.
