Westpac says its online and mobile banking services have been restored after customers reported having issues for at least six hours today.

Westpac took to X at 9.16am to initially apologise for the issues, which customers were still reporting by 3pm.

“We’re aware that customers are experiencing issues accessing online and mobile banking. Our teams are working to fix the issue,” the company wrote on X.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience and will continue to share updates here.”

At 3.13pm, the company updated that the services had just been restored.

“We appreciate your patience today, and we apologise for any inconvenience,” Westpac shared on X.

Thousands of customers reported the outage to website Downdetector, beginning at 7.43am, with 2625 reports received by 8.43am.

Many others took to social media to complain that they could not access their money.

“I’m stuck on the highway for hours waiting to pay for fuel,” an X user wrote.

Others complained it was not the first outage in recent months.

“Sorry but isn’t this the 4th time this has happened in the past 3/4 months?” one X user commented.

“I literally want to buy myself some food.”

Westpac responded individually to some comments on X.

“Thanks for reaching out and I’m sorry you’ve been impacted in this way,” one reply read.

“Know we’re definitely here to help you, and so we can best do this, are you able to send us a Direct Message? Thanks in advance.”
