A person has been detained, police said.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman shot in the face in Murray Hill is in critical condition and a suspect has been detained, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Post Street near MacDuff Avenue at 10:04 p.m., where they found the victim, a woman in her early 40s, police said. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department took the victim to an area hospital in critical condition.
Police detained a suspect at the scene and interviewed several witnesses, JSO said.
JSO said the victim was stopped in traffic in the 3000 block of Post St. when a person in the vehicle behind her vehicle left her car. JSO said the suspect approached the victim’s vehicle and the victim exited her vehicle.
A “short verbal” argument began and the suspect fired one time, striking the victim in the face, police said. JSO said it appears the victim and suspect knew each other.
This is an isolated incident, JSO said.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500, email JSOCRIMETIPS@Jaxsheriff.org or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
